Solo traveling can be a daunting experience for many people. However, it can also be a great opportunity to explore yourself and the world. Check out my tips on how to prepare and make your journey more enjoyable:
The first step could be to decide where you want to go. Solo traveling can offer a great opportunity to discover yourself and the world. If you’re going to an Eastern country, people may seem friendlier to you as they value their culture to learn about their country.
Unfortunately, solo traveling can be more expensive than traveling with another person. Therefore, it is important to plan your budget. Create a budget for your trip and keep track of your expenses.
I usually allocate a daily budget of around $20-$30. I try to solve my accommodation costs at an average of $10. If my budget is even more limited, I use applications like Couchsurfing or work-away.
When traveling alone, researching your accommodation options is essential to make you comfortable throughout your trip. You can compare hotel, hostel, Airbnb, and other accommodation options.
I usually try to stay in a hostel. The reason for this is that hostels are usually located in central areas, and when traveling alone, you can meet many people in the hostel. That’s why my hostel is among my top preferences.
If you cannot stay in hostels and have a limited budget, as I mentioned earlier, you can use the Couchsurfing application. With this application, you may have a chance to find free accommodation in the city you will visit.
The best part of this application is that you share real emotions with the people you meet because there is no commercial concern 🙂
I usually don’t make a detailed plan for the countries I visit. The reason for this is that I think I can discover the information I cannot find there by asking normal people in a better way. Therefore, I usually list the important places or cities and then create a roadmap towards there.
Meeting local people while traveling alone can provide you with new experiences and a better understanding of local culture. You can interact with locals by visiting local restaurants, tourist attractions, or non-touristy places.
This gives me both permanent people and makes my memories there more unforgettable 🙂
In this article, I wanted to share with you the most frequently asked questions with short and concise answers. Although you don’t know what to expect when you hit the road, you can be sure that you will have unforgettable and lasting memories in the end.
